I adore this bag upon receiving it. It came in perfect condition and every piece of hardware and straps were carefully wrapped. The bag came with a dustbag to protect it in storage although I recommend saving the bag stuffing in the duster bag so when you put the bag away you'll have something to fill and keep its structure intact for longer when you're swapping bags. Think along the lines you stuff your leather boots to keep their shape just as you would with this purse. This bag is definitely a classic statement piece to add to my collection even though it will serve as my work bag to 'lug' around my files but is definitely a good transition piece from the office to date night with ease. The bag itself made with sturdy Saffiano leather which is a leather that as been etched throughout as a method of reinforcing its structure and overall improve its wear'n'tear. I have not had this bag for a very long time to test how it will fare but it certainly feels like a very sturdy, well made bag and found the stitching and leather quality impeccable.At first inspection I was wary if it would carry all my files but after unlocking and unbuckling the front lock and its strap enclosure I found that the bag is very, very spacious and capable of expanding to a greater top capacity so I can fit several standard files horizontally rather than vertically and rebuckle it back up thus keeping my files securely in place and hard to remove by wandering hands even though the the top is not zipper-enclosed. If you use it as a regular bag then you may be less inclined to choose this bag without a zipper feature as it is just one large compartment with a small zipper pouch and open cell phone pouch built into the inner wall lining so it is still possible for someone to just dip their hand inside, have its contents fall out if it falls over by accident, or foresee its main compartment turning into an organizational mess if you tend to just dump various things in due to the lack of compartmentalization options. The latter two problems can be solved by just keeping your items in smaller pouches in the bag to increase your organization and reduce the likelihood of just a dozen tubes of lipstick, pens, and other various small items to just rolling all over if the bag ever gets forcibly upturned.Overall the structure seems stable and I love the tiny metal 'feet' on the base of the bag to help elevate it off the ground and keep the bottom clean. The leather and chain strap is nice although not adjustable but I was aware of that feature by the bag's pictures. It's main handles are sturdy and heavily structured and the metal lock and key is fantastic. I was so impressed by this bag overall that I want to invest in a second Michael Kors Hamilton Saffiano bag in either their luggage brown or red color after I test this one for a few more weeks. The design is clean and classic, the type of bag that will remain timeless and the quality itself lends me to believe it will last for years even though I anticipate the leather will soften with time.I bought and returned many new black "go to" bags in the last few weeks but none of them were "The One." I knew the bag I wanted -- this one -- but didn't really want to spend $358 at the department stores. So, I looked for acceptable alternatives and they all fell short. I purchased the MK Hamilton in the small size several years ago in the luggage color. It's too small, and I swore that if I ever bought another, it would be the large size. I scoped it out in retail stores - pretty much stalked it -- held it, caressed it, etc. and came thisclose to actually buying it. I went on Amazon to check it out, not really thinking I'd find it for an amount I wanted to pay. I was pleasantly surprised to find it for ess than $270. It arrived earlier than expected; I cut the tags and threw away the box, committing completely. I love, love, love it!! It came with a dust bag, the arch snap closure like the retail stores have, every portion of the bag not leather was carefully wrapped for protection, and the Saffiano leather, which I generally do not like, just works so well on this bag. This bag will hold up very well for years, even with less than tender loving care.I ordered this large handbag/tote because I have been using knapsacks for the past 15 years and really needed something sophisticated in design that would be understated, functional and hold up for a long time since I am not in the habit of spending so much money for a pocketbook... Whatever tote obviously all the various sizes, names and selection of Michael Kors items was confusing for me but with the encouragement of my daughters I took the plunge and selected this bag. It is well made. The stitching is well done and the leather is strong and soft but very sturdy. I don't like the gold chain and lock but this bag will absolutely hold up and lessen the I'm impact of the price, for meat least. I hope as it ages the color deepens and the leather looks even better. This bag is large and it's a heavier than I would have liked but I am happy I bought it and it will be great for travel, it holds a lot and the bag is roomyThis bag is great! When I got it, it came wrapped in the mk paper and plastic bag just like the bag I purchased from Macy's. I was so scared to take all the paper off the hardware because I wasn't sure if I was keeping it. I was studying the bag hardcore!! Watching YouTube about spotting a fake and all that kind of stuff. Well today I finally took all the paper off the hardware and I am so glad I did. I love the bag so much I don't want to use it. I put it in the dust bag in my closest lol only because I'm still carrying my diaper bag hahahaLove my Michael Kors bag and it is totally authentic, I compared it to one at Nordstrom and it's a perfect match. The snap closure is different than the picture and the picture on MK's website, but the Hamilton bags I saw in store had the same closure as this bag. I think the photos don't picture it properly because it would block some of the interior of the bag. Mine came totally wrapped just like my other MK bags with all tags and warranty. It also had the protective storage bag. It is the saffiano leather which is more durable than the softer leathers, but it is still super cute. I prefer the saffiano cause I know the bag will last. My bag also arrived 2 days earlier than expected! What a great bonus! Don't hesitate on buying this bag!
